FLOOR PROBLEM AREAS

ABRASION, IMPACT AND CHEMICAL ATTACK

ABRASION, IMPACT AND CHEMICAL ATTACK

  • Rebuild step edges.
  • Bond and reseat metal step nosings.
  • Rebuild worn or damaged floor areas.
  • Level uneven concrete sections.
  • Repair worn track areas.
  • Resurface for wear and impact protection.
  • Repair wooden floors or decks.

Problem: Deterioration of surfaces due to abrasion, chemical attack or impact resulting in uneven, unsightly and hazardous areas. Masonry and concrete in particular can be difficult to repair once damage has occurred. Conventional repairs to masonry would typically require replacement of the damaged part in order to preserve the aesthetic appearance. The damaged area would be to cut out and a specially made piece bonded in place in order to reinstate the original appearance. Repair of concrete with new concrete always gives rise to further problems since concrete shrinks and will not successfully bond to old concrete.

Belzona Solution: Belzona 4000 Series Magma Polymers have been specifically designed to bond to all types of masonry without shrinkage and provide a tough, permanent repair. Areas suffering from chemical attack can also be protected with the chemical resistant range of Belzona4000 Series products and, due to the fast cure cycle of the range, all repaired and protected areas can be returned to service in the shortest possible time.
Other Belzona Know-How applications for Floor Problem Areas include, reseating drain gratings and access covers, relining floor drains and channels, resurfacing and coating to protect against chemical attack, bonding and grouting wear plates, bonding rubber floor matting and bonding and grouting chemical resistant tiling.

EXPANSION AND BUILDING JOINTS

EXPANSION AND BUILDING JOINTS

  • Rebuild joint edges or nosings.
  • Repair day joints between concrete sections.
  • Create new joint seals.

Problem: Expansion joints and building joints create a range of problems. The edges of joints suffer damage by impact, causing uneven running areas. Sealants normally used shrink on cure allowing ingress of liquids into the joint, which then contaminates the spaces or ground beneath. Once the joint has broken down conventional repair would require complete replacement and occasionally redesign of the joint area.

Belzona Solution: Belzona 4000 Series Magma Polymer products can be used to effectively and quickly reinstate the edges of the joint and thus give protection against further impact damage. Depending upon the application, joints can also be sealed by use of the Belzona 2000 Series Elastomers or with another of the Belzona 4000 Series. Both alternatives are noted for their outstanding elasticity, high bond strength and no shrinkage post-cure and will provide the ultimate long-term seal.
Other Belzona Know-How application opportunities for expansion joints include, sealing over existing or new joints, bonding metal joint edges and bonding rubber joint materials to expansion joint sides.

SAFETY SYSTEMS

SAFETY SYSTEMS

  • Apply non-slip coatings around machinery.
  • Apply non-slip coatings to ladder rungs.
  • Create non-slip stair edges.
  • Apply line markings in traffic or storage areas.

Problem: The safety of personnel and particularly the public is a subject of the utmost importance and which must not be neglected. Slip and fall injuries are one of the biggest causes of sickness leave and industrial injury compensation. Conventional non-slip systems such as adhesive tapes and sand paints do not generally have the ability to withstand the rigors of the industrial/commercial environment and once damaged, become unsightly. Additionally their ineffectiveness can be a danger to personnel, since they can instill a false sense of security.

Belzona Solution: Belzona now have a wide range of products into which a non slip or positive drive system can be incorporated. The range can be utilized to provide a suitable system for virtually any application or substrate.
Belzona Know-How for safety systems also includes the ability to create handicapped access ramps, apply non-slip patterns onto ramp services, create bond grip pads or plates and create and apply customized, decorative grip systems.

ANCHORING AND SECURE FIXING

ANCHORING AND SECURE FIXING

  • Repair spalled concrete around handrail posts.
  • Set and grout handrails.
  • Bond roadside edging and traffic control devices into place.

Problem: Undesirable, excessive movement or misalignment of equipment caused by loosening of fixings due to vibration, impact, shock loading and chemical attack of fixings and anchor points. Conventional repair would generally require complete renewal of the foundation in the area of the anchor points and replacement of the anchor bolts. This course of action could if repairs are made with concrete necessitate the area being out of action for up to 28 days in order to ensure full cure of the concrete.

Belzona Solution: Belzona 4000 Series Magma Polymers will bond to any surface including metal. Their rapid-cure ensures fast turn around thus reducing downtime for the machine or area of the repair. Use of this range of products, for these types of repair does not require complete renewal of the anchor foundation since liquid mixes of the product can be injected into the anchor point to provide immediate and-long term consolidation of the damaged substrate.
Other Belzona Know-How application opportunities for anchoring and securing includes, fixing and securing loose anchor bolts, setting new anchor bolts, positioning and securing automated guide wires and rebond.
