Epoxy Coatings Are Perfect For Garage Floors
Whether they are a homeowner or a business owner, the last thing anyone wants to do is repair concrete in their garage. Any type of garage needs tough flooring to withstand the wear and tear that people put on it, whether it is a residential, commercial or industrial garage. One of the best ways to protect and seal garage floors is with epoxy coatings, which are applied to concrete garage floors to seal and protect them. An epoxy concrete sealer will help concrete flooring to resist stains, avoid problems from moisture and look good for longer. Before one installs an epoxy coating, there is a little preparation that they must undertake before the real work begins.
First of all, they have to make sure that the floor doesn't have any moisture, residual paint, cement sealer or other finishing before applying the epoxy concrete sealer. This could mean that whoever installs the epoxy coatings will have to repair concrete moisture problems before continuing. In order to find out if there is moisture in the concrete, one must simply take a 3'x3' sheet of plastic and tape it to an area of the floor for a couple of days. If moisture collects on the plastic in that time, there are moisture problems that must be repaired. In order to check for sealants before applying epoxy coating to a floor, one can simply pour a cup of water to see if it soaks into the floor or not. If it just sits on top of the floor, that means there is sealant present and the epoxy concrete sealer won't stick. Some people also paint a small area of their floor with oil-based enamel to see if it sticks for several months; and if it does the epoxy coatings probably will, too.
