Chemical Reactions Produce Epoxy
Epoxy coverage is often used for flooring, especially in commercial garages and industrial warehouses. Even residential home owners use epoxy protective coatings on their garage floors, because it is so strong and helps protect the concrete or whatever other type of tough flooring they have in place.
Epoxy is made from polymer materials, which start out as liquids and are turned into solid polymer as a result of a chemical reaction. People use epoxy coverage because it is not only mechanically strong, but it is also resists various solid chemicals. Epoxy protective coatings, though they come in several different forms, will always have the two basic components of a resin and a hardener. The resin used to make any kind of epoxy is typically light colored and virtually odorless.
The hardeners, on the other hand, are dark colored and usually smell like ammonia. When resins and hardeners are combined to make epoxy, they must be mixed in just the right quantities to react to one another. The resins and hardeners link together with the correct chemical reaction, a process which cannot be stopped once it is started. After the process is complete, rigid epoxy coverage will result, which should last for many years. Epoxy protective coatings are probably the most durable protecting sealants that a person can put on their flooring, and they are meant to last.
